5 Stars: Wow, it got me again, I was left shouting “no” - I can’t wait Fatale. What is there to say that doesn’t give things away, things are progressing along and I’m glad that Will Stanton gives Klempner the chance to sort things out and find James’ daughter Georgie. Then just when you think things will be resolved, Simone brilliantly takes the story and characters in another direction. What started as a story about James, Charlotte and Michael with some occasional play friends has evolved into a brilliant series that is full of suspense, intrigue and steam. It’s up there with some of the best steamy thrillers in my opinion. This is part of a series and not a stand-alone as you just can’t pick it up. I recommend the whole series 100% you will not be disappointed.

5 Stars: OMG, Simone Leigh, you had me holding my breath and tears falling down my face. This is such an emotionally packed storyline with twists and turns that literally took my breath! I don't even want to give one tiny bit of this book away, IT'S THAT GOOD!!!! If there as any way to give more than five stars, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I can't wait for 'Fatale.'

5 Stars: OMG! Yes! “The Master’s Child” storyline continues in “Prey”. Prey is the most suspenseful tale in the series focusing on James’ other daughter Georgie, who has been kidnapped, and on a mysterious woman from Klempner’s past. These situations are combined and interwoven into the original storyline’s plot giving us an incredible non-stop, action-packed, dangerous, hard-hitting and explosively suspenseful tale that is alluring and mesmerizing, drawing you into the drama that culminates in a twist that will leave you breathless right before the cliffhanger ending. I am so in love with this series. I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily

Klempner

The landline rings…
Everyone… me, James, Michael… Haswell and Stanton… Even the uniform standing by me with his rifle semi-raised…
All jolt…
Gently, I place a finger on the end of the rifle barrel, nudging it a little to point in some other direction. The uniform relaxes and gives me half a cheesy grin before wiping it from his face when he sees Stanton’s expression. The officer by the door sucks away a smile, looking straight ahead.
Michael, with a semblance of calm… “Will, do you mind?”
Stanton waves him to the house phone. “Put it on loudspeaker.”
Michael strolls across and taps a button on the still-ringing phone. Another tap, then the white noise of a live connection hums over the room.
“Hello?” he says.
“Who’s that?” It’s a female voice, sounding panic-stricken, almost hysterical.
“I’m Michael Summerford. Who’s this please?”
But James is already reacting.
“I’m Marlene Alexanders. Where’s James? I need to speak with him. It’s very urgent.”
James radiates bafflement and anger. “Marlene, what do you want, ringing here? This isn’t a good time…”
“Georgie. Georgie’s missing. Have you seen her?”
“Missing?” James freezes, his face stonewalling. “Missing? What are you talking about Marlene?”
“I mean missing.” The female voice rises to a shriek. “Can’t be found. And there’s a note. It’s addressed to you.”
James jolts, starting to speak, but Stanton booms across the room. “What kind of a note, Mrs Alexanders?”
“What? Who’s that talking? James, who’s with you?”
“Mrs Alexanders, I am Police Commissioner William Stanton. Now please tell us what you mean by a note?”
The voice babbles over the speaker. “It says he’s got her. Says she’s stupid. It says… It says…” The voice quavers… “It says it’s James’ fault…”
James’ eyes widen… “What? My fault? Read it out, Marlene. Word for word.”
A pause, a rustle, then halting, sobbing words… “You mustn’t blame me, James. It wasn’t my fault.”
“Your fault? Marlene, you just said it was my fault. Just read out the fucking note.”
Stanton nods across to the officer by the door, eye-pointing a notepad in his top pocket. “Palinsky…”
“Sir.” Palinsky whips out the pad, scribbling furiously as words sob out from the loudspeaker.
My Dear James,
Your deeply stupid daughter is with me now. My thanks to your even more deeply stupid wife for her assistance. It was fun while it lasted.
Georgie doesn’t know what’s coming yet, but I’m going to enjoy having my fun. Until I’m bored anyway. After that? Who knows?
Whatever I decide, you and your best bud Klempner, and of course, your charming daughter, will find out what it means to fuck me around. If either of you think it’s over, forget it.
Btw – nice tits. Not much of a handful, but nice and firm.
The loudspeaker falls silent save for the sound of weeping. Palinsky rips the top sheet from his pad and passes it to Stanton who reads the note. His lips move as he examines it, then wordless, eyelids drooping, he hands it to James.
James’ fingers tremble as he accepts the note, reads it and rereads it. Will regards him for a second, maybe two then turns back to the speaker. “Mrs Alexanders. Where are you? What is your address and that of your daughter’s? I’m sending officers over now to take a look and to interview you.”
James steps towards the door. “I’ll go too…”
Stanton swings a long arm towards him, forefinger outstretched. “No, you won’t,” he snaps. “Not until I have the whole story here. You’re too mixed up with whatever Klempner here’s been up to. At the very least, you’re a witness to what happened with Mickey Miller and you may be an accessory.”
